CTMH's Technique Blog Hop - Thin Cuts

Hello and welcome to CTMH's Technique Blog Hop. This week our featured technique is using the CTMH Thin Cuts

If you have just joined us you can start here and continue on, as this is a circular hop or if you get lost along the way you can start at the beginning with Melissa's Blog as she has the complete list. If you came here from CATSCRAPBOOKING you are in the right place. Now on to my project:

Our new thin cuts are fun, coordinate with a stamp set and easy to use it. So easy a baby could do it:

Sorry, I couldn't resist. When I first got my thin cuts I was testing them out and my one year old wanted to try lol.

Ok so for my project I decided to use the "My Anchor" Stamp set and Thin Cuts. I didn't use much of the thin cuts on this particular project but I still had fun doing this page. The banner thin cut is especially useful to have as it is very versatile. You don't NEED to stamp the coordinating image, you can also write on there or leave it blank and use as an embellishment.

I prefer to stamp/emboss/paint/etc on my paper BEFORE cutting the image with my Big Shot. I had purchased a magnetic board so that cutting out the images is a piece of cake. They don't slide anywhere and center perfectly around my stamped image. It seems if I cut first and then stamp I have more of a chance to mess up or have it go crooked. In that sense you are also dealing with smaller pieces.

For this page I did some heat embossing. The stamped image at the bottom of the page I stamped the black part first with versamark ink. I put scotch tape over the love part when stamping and then removed it before stamping. Then I heated the powder. Then I repeated the process with the white part. Any questions I'll be happy to answer!

Next I decided to make a page using the Springtime Wishes Thin Cuts on a page. I used it to make the flowers on the page as embellishments. This shows you don't always need to pair up the thin cuts with their coordinating stamp sets.

  1. What a nice layout. I also appreciate your note about using a magnetic board to hold the thin cuts in place, I will have to try that if I can find one to work with my Cuttlebug. I've always done the cut then stamp method because I'm too lazy to tape everything down to run it through for cutting!
