CTMH's Technique Blog Hop - Resisting Can Be Fun

Hello and welcome to CTMH's Technique Blog Hop. This week our featured technique is "Resisting"

If you have just joined us you can start here and continue on, as this is a circular hop or if you get lost along the way you can start at the beginning with Melissa's Blog as she has the complete list. If you came here from THE INKY SCRAPPER you are in the right place. Now on to my project:

So as I was preparing for this technique blog hop I was watching a demo for the new Color Burst products and I had a thought: I wonder if you can do that with re-inker? So I tested it out. P.S. The answer is no: re-inkers do not act like Color Bursts lol.

Here's what I came up with. First I stamped an image with Versamark Ink on a few pieces of cardstock. (Simple Memories - I know it's a retired stamp set but I wanted one with lots of texture). Then I sprinkled on the clear embossing powder and heated it. Then I used a variety of different tools and techniques with the re-inkers.

1. I wet the paper with a damp paintbrush first and then dropped a few drops of re-inker then spritzed with water. It didn't spread nicely like I thought it would.

2. Here I put drops of re-inker on my all-purpose mat and painted it on the image using a damp paintbrush.

3. Here I put drops of re-inker on my all purpose mat and then used an old water brush from Close to my Heart. The water dilutes the ink a bit. (HINT: Keep water brushes in mind for future artwork from CTMH).

So in the end I preferred look #2 so I made a few more and added them to a layout.

Then for fun I tried another resisting technique I saw in a youtube video by CTMH on textures and techniques. For this page I cut my title out on my Cricut using the Artistry Cartridge, then I cut out the negative space used and ran my versamark pad over the words onto the page. (HINT: tape down the two sides with washi tape so the title doesn't slide all over when inking).

Then I heat embossed the clear embossing powder. Now was the fun part of using my water paints and making a nice background around my title. Once it was dry I outlined the letters with my journaling pen.

It made a beautiful cover page for my next album. :) Don't forget that if you want the Regatta and Charlotte paper packs you'll need to purchase before the end of the month before it's retired!

Cross Canada Blog Hop - Easter Creations

Hello and welcome to the Cross Canada Blog Hop. This week we will be featuring Easter Creations.

If you have just joined us you can start here and continue on, as this is a circular hop or if you get lost along the way you can start at the beginning with Michelle's Blog as she has the complete list. If you came here from SCRAPBOOKING WITH CHERYL you are in the right place. Now on to my project:

Okay so I know it was early in the month but I couldn't help myself and did a little Easter Photo Shoot with my little girls. It is my youngster's first Easter. Then I paired the pictures with the Penelope Paper pack and created this fun and interactive layout.

The eggs were embossed using our embossing folders and inking the inside before running it through the Big Shot. And for the interactive aspect as you can tell I made TWO sliding window elements and one flap. This is how I made the sliding windows by using cardstock and 3D tape:

I made sure to add stoppers so that it didn't slide all the way out. I also made a slit in my page protectors so that I can open and shut the windows with ease. Reminder: Make sure to add holes at the end of the slits so that they don't tear.

For the flap I created it using our White & Gold ribbon and gluing it in between the pieces of cardstock on the flap and under the piece on the layout. Then I cut a slit in the Memory Protector again for the flap to go through. Then I took a 4x6 Flip Flap and cut off the adhesive part and just slid my flap in there and it was simple and all my pages and photos are well protected and easy to access!

I know this is a lot lol but if you have any questions just ask and I'll reply ASAP! Thanks!
